Why?

Though it’s been a while since anybody heard anything about David Rosenthal’s remake of Jacob’s Ladder, the film’s production has been moving along quietly in the background for some time now, and it’s all been building up to this trailer that was dropped today.

Here it is:

The synopsis:

“Michael Ealy stars as Jacob, an Afghanistan war veteran who’s had a complicated relationship with his brother Isaac (Jesse Williams.) After Jacob witnesses Isaac’s death in the field, he returns home to begin trying to piece together his life and move on. But when Isaac suddenly reappears without explanation, Jacob begins to suspect that something might not be quite right about his resurrected brother—or, perhaps, about his own state of mind, as he’s plagued by increasingly terrifying visions of demons and specters.”

This was filmed over three years ago. It’s debuting on DishTV, which I believe is its own death sentence. Based on the trailer, I don’t see how anyone could think this would be good, I mean they got the movie right the first time around, which makes this all-black version a bullshit exercise in unoriginality.

I hope to God I’m not in the minority here, but I’m getting sick fed up of Superhero movies, but I’ll take them all day long over these soy-filled re-imaginings.

Fuck you Hollywood. The new Jacob’s Ladder looks shit, and it’s out sometime soon.
