Mads Mikkelsen is international hitman Kaiser Black in this new trailer for Netflix film Polar. Watch it here:
With John Wick just a few months away, Netflix is betting there is room in the entertainment landscape for a TV movie about another reformed hitman, with its forthcoming “original” film, Polar.
Based on the graphic of the same name by Victor Santos, Polar stars Mikkelsen as Duncan Vizla, AKA The Black Kaiser, who is targeted by his former employer (played by Matt Lucas, yes the small balding fellow from Little Britain) as a liability to the firm.

The Black Kaiser is forced back into action against an army of younger, faster, ruthless killers who will stop at nothing to kill him, even kidnapping his neighbour Camille (Vanessa Hudgens).
So this isn’t original programming, this is cut n’ paste programming, no?
I won’t be fooled by Netflix again, with them commissioning any old shite that comes their way. Hell, why haven’t Film Goblin pitched any of their ideas to them?
Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, with the film’s soundtrack created by heralded DJ/producer Deadmau5, the film also co-stars Vanessa Hudgens, Johnny Knoxville, Richard Dreyfuss, Katheryn Winnick, Matt Lucas.
Polar is slated to premiere on Netflix on January 25.
