Murphy And Netflix Discuss $70M deal

After an eternity away from performing live comedy, Eddie Murphy has said he’s considering a return to stand-up.

It feels like lightyears since Murphy last performed on stage, and Murphy-prime remains hands down one of the funniest guys I’ve ever seen perform. Eddie Murphy: Raw, holds the #1 stand-up film of all time at the box office, after making $50.5 million.

The actor has previously hinted at a return to stand-up and this week told fellow comedian Jerry Seinfeld he would explore coming back to the stage.

Murphy told Seinfeld.

“I’m going to do it again Everything just has to be right. You have to get up there and start working out. Still gotta go to the comedy club.”

Now, according to TMZ, sources connected to Murphy say the comedian has been holding talks with Netflix for an undisclosed number of comedy specials. The figure for the deal being discussed during these negotiations is around $70m, though that’s yet to be confirmed.

Coming To America 2?

Oh yeah, we reported news of a sequel happening earlier this year and that Murphy will reprise his role as Akeem for the as-yet-untitled movie, we can now report that Arsenio Hall has officially closed a deal with Paramount Pictures to reprise his role as Akeem’s loyal man-servant, Semmi.

In the sequel, Akeem and Semmi return to the US after getting word that Akeem has a previously-unknown son living in America who is the rightful heir to the Zamunda throne.

Coming to America 2 is based on a screenplay by Kenya Barris (Blackish) and will be directed by director Craig Brewer (Black Snake Moan).

I’ll leave this here:
