And Why Not?

In 2018 Netflix added 20 million new and saw it’s stock increase by 33%.

Though figures for 2019 won’t be available until next month stock has reportedly jumped another 25% this year and counts 137 Million global subscribers.

That’s 137, 000,000 customers x $10 average fee = $1.37 Billion.

We’re talking big bucks people and no matter what you make of their content you can’t deny they do what they do well. Even with heading back to the bond markets for more cash this year.

This is especially telling considering it has been a tough year for a lot of tech companies

They continue to break new ground while other streaming services are still finding their feet and most importantly solidify their status as a viable alternative to traditional networks.

Next up, ideally, is a complete replacement of that outdated model if for no other reason than commercials are increasingly intolerable.

That includes you Amazon Prime.

Who’s Getting Paid?

CEO Reed Hastings and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos, that’s who!

Sarandos is set for the biggest bump, taking a $6 million raise to $18 million in salary and $13.5 million.

And, though Hastings only receives a salary of $700,000, with stock options he could make as much as $31.5 million next year.

You don’t generate that sort of following without having somebody knows how to steer the business so it’s nice to see these guys rewarded.

They are a nice example of people supporting a dream and making it a game-changer.

All Hail The Flix!

And, so far anyway, the revenue hasn’t been off the back of the people, or by buying up/ off their competition or whatever underhanded garbage high tech companies use to inflate their earnings

Many factors contribute to Netflix’s success but mainly they’ve succeeded by taking chances with talent and through cooperation with international production companies.

We are in the age of the Streaming service and Netflix is #1.

The next and maybe the only question is who will be their main challenger?

Merry Christmas Ya’ Filthy Animals.
