The Matrix 4 Versus John Wick Chapter 4

Warner Brothers has dropped its release dates for a couple of hot properties for the true fans around us out here.

We’re gonna need guns. Lots and lots of guns.

From the trades:

Warner Bros. announced new release dates for two of their biggest projects: The Flash and The Matrix 4. Warners says the superhero film [The Flash] will open on July 1, 2022. As for The Matrix 4 release date, that’s set for May 21, 2021.

As was also pointed out in the trades, Warner has had trouble with launching the production of The Flash, though Ezra Miller, who was the only bright spot in Justice League, is set to return as the Scarlet Speedster.

Competing with Myself

What’s also interesting here is that The Matrix 4 release date coincides with the release of the other franchise that just won’t die that also stars Keanu Reeves, John Wick Chapter 4.

Lots and lots of guns.

Keanu likes competing with himself at the box office.

What Are We To Make of All of This?

The production of The Matrix 4, to be directed by Lana Wachowski—formerly Larry Wachowski—and set to star Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jonathan Groff, is proceeding apace.

I know, I know. He’s not Barry Allen.

While there might not necessarily be a need for The Matrix 4 in the world, a stand-alone The Flash film could be really interesting in light of what Warner Brothers has done successfully with Wonder Woman, Shazam, and Aquaman, and in light of whatever they’re cooking up with The Batman.
