The Rocketeer returns to screens in 2019!

Whoo-Hooo! Now, Ain’t This Some Cool News…

I was a big fan of Dave Stevens’  The Rocketeer comics and thoroughly enjoyed the 1991 movie version:

Disney announced today that it will be producing a new animated version of The Rocketeer.

Walt Disney Studios is developing a reboot of the 1991 action-adventure movie, hiring Max Winkler and Matt Spicer to pen the script, which is being titled The Rocketeers.

“The Rocketeers?” Well, that’s strange, but anyway… Sounds Great?

Tales of a retro WW2 superhero fighting mobsters and evil Nazi scientists while trying to save a dame is always a good time. Add in some potentially cool animation work and this good be something special.

Disney has officially announced that The Rocketeer, based on the comic books by Dave Stevens, will be getting an animated series on Disney Junior.

Disney Junior??…Ahh well, I guess he won’t be fighting any Nazis.

The series will introduce a new Rocketeer this time around: Kit, a young girl.

A young girl? Well I guess SHE won’t be fighting any Nazis

Disney is bringing back “The Rocketeer” with a black female lead.

A young black girl?? And set in 2019. So she will be fighting Nazis.

I wonder if she will have a disabled side-kick too?

Brigham Taylor, who produced The Jungle Book with Jon Favreau, is producing along with Blake Griffin of the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers and Ryan Kalil of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. Tendo Nagenda and Chaz Salembier are overseeing the project for Disney.

No word on an actual release date as of yet.

I don’t plan on watching this so that really doesn’t matter.
