If you enjoyed Matt Damon in the Oscar-nominated Ford V Ferrari, then do we have some good news for you.

Damon is re-teaming with Ford V Ferrari director James Mangold for a new film based on the bestselling novel The Force by Don Winslow.

The Force, which is not a gritty reboot of Star Wars, is about an NYPD detective who likes to cross the line when getting things done and winds up getting caught up in a corruption scandal.

So it’s a bit like that show The Shield was on FX.

This would not be the first time Damon plays a corrupt cop on the big screen. Last time he did it helped Martin Scorsese win an Oscar for directing The Departed

Mangold has quickly become one of the most reliable directors in Hollywood. In addition to Ford V Ferrari, he also helped save the Wolverine franchise after the disaster that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine with the well-received The Wolverine and acclaimed Logan. He also has 3:10 to Yuma and Cop Land on his resume.

Mangold is currently still working on the script with Get Shorty and Out of Sight screenwriter Scott frank. The first draft was put together was David Mamet.
