Series To Be Written By BBC’s Sherlock Crew

Netflix has hired the producer/writer team of Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss’ to helm its upcoming BBC Dracula series.

In a similar format to Sherlock, the team aims to “re-introduce the world to Dracula” with the 3 x 90-minute series.

Unlike the duo’s modern-day take on the great Victorian detective, Dracula is remaining within the backdrop of 1897 and the story will “revolve around the blood-drinking count from Transylvania who sets his sights on Victorian London.”

Charlotte Moore, BBC director of content added:

“There have always been stories about great evil, Moffat and Gatiss said in an official statement. What’s special about Dracula is that Bram Stoker gave evil its own hero. Genius duo Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss turn their attentions to Dracula for unmissable event television on BBC One.”

Sherlock was class, so I’m hoping they can rinse and repeat again but with a completely fresh take on The Count.

I think a series might work better than a movie at this point.
