Icy Reception To Season 2 Prompted HBO To Take It’s Time With The Third
HBO has shared a first look at the highly anticipated third season of their alternatively acclaimed and disappointing drama series, True Detective. The network has also revealed that the show will return to the airways in January 2019.
Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) is on the case, and in the new trailer, he looks like he’s in for a challenge.

Season 3 also stars Mamie Gummer (The Good Wife), Stephen Dorff (The Gate) and Carmen Ejogo (Fantastic Beasts). Creator and original showrunner Nic Pizzolatto will helm the writing for all episodes, and will also direct along with Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room). Pizzolatto wrote this season along with Deadwood’s David Milch who is credited as a co-writer.
Hopefully this season might just recapture what made the first season so memorable. We’ll find out in January.
