The Big Green Cheese is Back

Warner Bros. is dipping into the well and is planning on bringing sometimes Justice League member Martian Manhunter to the big screen.

Martian Manhunter aka J’onn J’onzz is one of the seven original members of the Justice League of America and one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe.

Gifted with such gifts as superhuman strength, speed, and stamina, limited Invulnerability, flight, telepathy, density control, regeneration, shapeshifting and longevity.

There sounds like there is a lot of potential for a big-screen version.

However, though he’s been well used as a supporting character this really hangs on whatever level of genius they tap for the screenplay.

As Powerful as Supes Plus A Few Tweaks…Sounds Cool Right?

Sure.

He’s been portrayed pretty well in the DC Animation productions – Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, The Batman – so my hopes are modest but considering DC’s recent track record that’s pretty high praise.

New To The DCEU?

Maybe…probably…depends how you feel about the rumor that Harry Lennix’s General Swanwick from Man of Steel and Batman V Superman was the character in disguise.

Other words are this would be confirmed in the elusive Snyder cut.

Hello. Is this thing on?

The character has generally been played or voiced by a black actor which is expected to continue but it isn’t likely that Lennix will be returning.

Because you know; Michael B. Jordan be “Michael Be Jordan-ing.”

Previous versions of the character in live actions have been played by Phil Morris in Smallville and David Harewood in The CW’s Arrowverse.

No further information on the production status is currently available but word is Warner Bros. is anxious to get things moving.
