As we count down to a Bond 25 press conference and title reveal, expected early next month as main unit shooting gets underway, news is hitting that 007 will return to his spiritual second home in Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond.
“Goin’ Back To My Roots…”
Scenes are set to be filmed in Jamaica. This location was the setting for much of the action in the first cinematic 007 adventure, Dr. No. Many Bond novels were written there in Ian Fleming’s holiday home and naming inspiration for the earlier bond movie, Goldeneye.
Bond links with the island continue throughout literature as the setting for Fleming’s final 007 book, The Man With The Golden Gun which was published after the author’s death and involves ex-circus trick shot artist Francisco Scaramanga using it as a base to transport drugs and traffic prostitutes into the USA via Mexico.
Deeper into the legend of the character, it crops up again in the Raymond Benson continuation novels as the location of 007’s own personal property, the cliff top bungalow Shamelady, and once more as the location of Bond’s retirement in John Pearson’s excellent James Bond – The Authorised Biography.
Where Next?
Jamaica joins Greece and Italy on the already confirmed destination lost for this movie. Early filming has also been carried out on a frozen lake near Oslo to take advantage of the weather conditions before the spring thaw.
This confirmed some scenes are to be filmed in IMAX as those cameras were present for the scene said to involve a masked assassin chasing a child across the ice.
