Amy Adams is back in serious acting mode after several missteps into the DCEU and not a moment too soon.

She has 5 Academy Award nominations under her belt which indicates at least a modicum of consistent talent so it’s good that she’s getting a chance to refresh everyone’s memory about that as The Woman in the Window:

An agoraphobic developmental psychologist living alone New York starts spying on her new neighbors. After witnesses a disturbing act of violence she ends up in the middle of a crime scene. It doesn’t matter what you know it’s what you can prove which sets the protagonist on the uphill path that will lead either to heroism or insanity.

Joining Adams are some familiar, if not impressive names like Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour), Brian Tyree Henry (If Beale Street Could Talk), Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Hateful 8) and Wyatt Russell (Overlord).

Directed by Joe Wright (Darkest Hour, Pride and Prejudice) and based on the best selling novel by A.J. Finn and adapted by Tracy Letts (August: Osage County).

It also has Danny Elfman, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross handling the music.

So though it may look and sound like something in the vein of Rear Window and Copycat it does add the extra identity theft twist.

That plus the talent involved on both sides of the camera should go a long way towards making this a solidly watchable thriller.
