Seven Stages to Achieve Eternal Bliss is a comedy about a cult, so I guess you could say the producers are hoping the film will be a cult hit.

I’ll be here all day.

It comes out this weekend in limited release but it doesn’t look like much is expected of the film since it also hits On Demand this month on St. Patrick’s Day.

They didn’t even bother to give much of a synopsis.

An offbeat comedy about a couple taking a chance on a place with impossibly low rent, not knowing the former occupant was a cult leader. To make matters more bizarre, an endless string of followers routinely break into their home to ceremoniously sacrifice themselves.

Even though the trailer tries to make it seem like there’s an all-star cast, the biggest name involved in this is clearly Jojo Rabbit and What We Do In The Shadows director and star Taika Waititi, who skips the directing chair for just an acting gig this time.

Since the film is clearly low budget and there’s not much of a marketing push behind it, it’s somewhat odd that they are choosing to release the film now instead of a few weeks ago to take advantage of when Waititi’s name was all over the place during Oscar season.

They are not even bothering to mention he just won an Oscar in the trailer. It would be kind of cheating since it was just for writing, but still, you gotta do what you gotta do.

It looks like it has some potential. Waititi seems to be taking over the market on oddball characters, so a role like this is in his wheelhouse.

Seven Stages to Achieve Eternal Bliss hits theaters this Friday and On Demand March 17.
