Jack Bauer’s Origin Story In the Works
Are you ready for more Jack Bauer… without Kiefer Sutherland? No, me neither.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox is developing a new 24 prequel series that will explore the origins of the counter terrorist agent Jack Bauer before the events of the original series.
A little substance for this news is that the idea comes from original series creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran, who are reportedly teaming for the idea with executive producer/showrunner Howard Gordon. Surnow and Cochran will pen the script.
The story is said to be in the vein of the original and will trace the origin story of CTU Agent Bauer, played by Sutherland on 24 for eight seasons and on follow-up limited series 24: Live Another Day.
The last 24 instalment launched after the Super Bowl in 2017. After debuting with a high ratings haul in TV’s most-coveted time slot, the ratings cooled and it was cancelled.
