Happy Tuesday, Friends & Neighbours!

I hope the holiday hangover hasn’t hit any of you too hard.

And speaking of hits — it doesn’t look like Martin Scorsese is ready to take a break from delivering them anytime soon!

Okay, not my finest… so, on to the meat.

The Irishman director is preparing the long-gestating Killers of the Flower Moon for a March 2020 start.

David Grann wrote the novel as well as The Lost City of Z which though it came and went pretty quietly at theaters in 2017, it garnered a lot of positive reviews.

“Set in 1920s Oklahoma the story centers around the Osage Nation murders, in which members of the Native American tribe were murdered one by one after the group became rich off the oil found underneath their land. The murders attracted the attention of the newly created FBI, who set out to investigate the crimes and one of the first of its kind under J. Edgar Hoover.”

The project was first announced in July of 2017.

At this point both Robert DeNiro, who’s signed on to play William Hale, and Leonardo DiCaprio are involved which will be their second movie together after 1993’s This Boy’s Life, well technically it’s the third if you count the short film The Audition which was really a commercial for The City of Dreams resort in Manila.

It cost $70 million and also stars Brad Pitt. You can check that out here:

If you include the above, Flower Moon will mark their tenth and sixth collaborations respectively with Scorsese. No other casting has been reported.

Oil. Greed. Who da thought it would end in murder?

Based on the novel Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by author David Grann, Oscar-winning scribe Eric Roth (Forrest Gump) has adapted the script. Scorsese, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas will produce along with DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions.
