Sunday night into Monday morning director Kevin Smith had a massive heart attack while performing standup in Glendale, California.

He’s alive.

Is that called “irony”?

According to his Facebook update, in which he described the event as being “all part of my mythology now”, he was performing standup in Glendale, when after the first set he threw up, then began to sweat buckets while having massive chest pain.

He cancelled his second set of standup for the night and was rushed to Glendale Hospital, at least according to Smith,  because there is no Glendale Hospital. There is a USC Verdugo Hills Hospital and a Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center.

He had a 100% blockage in his left anterior descending artery, also known as a “Widow Makers” heart attack. He had a stent put in via his femoral artery to open up the LAD.

According to Smith:

“i don’t care what anyone says, this heart attack was one of the best heart attacks i’ve every experienced in a hospital. it really brought back memories of when i would see ON ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT THAT one of my favorite actors had suddenly died of a massive coronary. I STILL REMEMBER THE TIME…”

No, Kevin Smith didn’t actually say that, but we can all imagine the “stories” that will now be spun based on this, hopefully, life-changing event. With it being “mythology” and all.

Here is what Smith actually said:

All kidding aside, February is American Heart Disease Month. Please guys take care of your tickers, get some exercise, let’s not eat all the bacon in the world and try to be better to our hearts. Kevin Smith is like a lot of us Goblins, big nerd guy who likes to eat but hitting middle age. (Editor’s Note: NEVER compare us to this shill)

Good thoughts, Kevin.
