Just in time for the holiday season, Fox today releases the red band trailer for their upcoming horror film, Antlers.

A mysterious creature escapes from its confines to wreak bloody havoc in a small Oregon town.

If a film set in the woods of Oregon isn’t enough to pique your interest, then maybe the name Guillermo del Toro will. The Oscar-winning director serves as one of the producers of the film and as you can see from the trailer, it has the usual kind of vibe you would expect from a monster movie involving him.

Antlers stars The Rise Of Skywalker‘s Keri Russell and was directed by Scott Cooper, who previously directed the well-received films Into The Furnace with Christian Bale and Black Mass with Johnny Depp.

Even though it has del Toro’s name attached, this film feels like it has flown under most people’s radar. Despite the low profile, it still looks like it could be a decent watch when it comes out this spring.

The trailer does a nice job or building an unsettling world without giving away too much in terms of plot or what the creature looks like, which is always key with a movie in this genre.

The most surprising thing to me is that it’s called Antlers, which makes you immediately think of reindeers and Christmas, but Fox is not releasing it this winter to help capitalize on the marketing possibilities.

Antlers pushes its way into theaters April 17, 2020.
