Michael Jordan is considered by most basketball fans to be the greatest player ever.

His 90’s Chicago Bulls team is one of the dominant dynasties in sports history, resulting in a season in which they won a then record 72 regular-season games and six NBA championships.

It could have been eight if he didn’t try his hand at baseball in the middle of it.

Over 20 years later, ESPN is releasing The Last Dance, a documentary on that team which focuses on the 1997-98 season that wound up being Jordan’s last one in Chicago before retiring for the second time.

It will heavily feature new behind the scenes footage that was shot during the season, but which for some reason has never surfaced before, as well as over 100 different interviews with figures such as Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Barack Obama, and Justin Timberlake.

Jason Hehir is the director. Not a household name, but he did make the very well received Andre The Giant doc for HBO.

ESPN is not calling it a limited series, but rather a ten-part documentary.

Their 30 For 30 series, which was created by controversial sportswriter Bill Simmons in 2009, has won a number of awards over the years and in 2016 they won an Academy Award for O.J.: Made in America.

The Last Dance will air on ESPN and ABC in June.
