Alicia Silverstone’s career seems to have been in hiding for the last 20 years, but we have found her in the trailer for the new horror film, The Lodge.

In this psychologically chilling slow burn, a young woman and her reticent new stepchildren find themselves isolated in the family’s remote winter cabin, locked away to dredge up the mysteries of her dark past and the losses that seem to haunt them all.

Former Batgirl Silverstone leads the cast which also includes the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley, Riley Keough, and Knives Out actor Jaeden Martell.

It looks like a basic people trapped in a house with a crazy person horror flick and doesn’t seem to add anything new to the genre. But the thing about genre films is that if they are done well they are some of the best experiences you can have at the movies even if you know everything that is going to happen.

The film is being released by Neon, which also put out the Oscar-nominated Parasite.

The Lodge has already been released in Europe to some pretty good reviews. It was also good enough to play at Sundance, so it has that going for it.

Whatever happened to Silverstone though? She’s no thespian, but at one point she was one of the biggest female actresses around, then completely disappeared. Clueless proved she has some comedy chops.

Did Reese Witherspoon just show up and push her out of the way?

The Lodge opens in American cinemas on February 7.
