Thanks to ill informed college girls and Bernie Sanders supporters, communism is making a big comeback.

So what better time for Warner Brothers to release the trailer for their latest direct to video DC animated film, Superman: Red Son, then now?

Based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Mark Millar, it’s a basic what-if story, with the twist being that baby Kal-El landed in the Soviet Union instead of Smallville and became The Iron Curtain’s greatest hero.

Superman’s rocket ship lands on a Ukrainian collective farm rather than in Kansas. Instead of fighting for “… truth, justice, and the American Way”, Superman is described in Soviet radio broadcasts “… as the Champion of the common worker who fights a never-ending battle for Stalin, socialism, and the international expansion of the Warsaw Pact.”

Providing the voices are Jason Isaacs as Superman, Amy Acker as Lois Lane, Diedrich Bader as Lex Luther, Rodger Craig Smith as Batman and Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman.

Even though a lot of people behind the animated features are the same ones who worked on the Justice League animated show on Cartoon Network, a lot of these features are very hit or miss. They tend to be extremely fast-paced, like they are trying to fit a two-hour script into a 90-minute movie.

It has some pretty good source material, so hopefully this one turns out pretty well when it’s released sometime early in 2020.
