O’ Lordy, Them Crackas Hauntin’ Ay’one

The definition of antebellum is “occurring or existing before a particular war, especially the American Civil War.”

The official synopsis of the new movie from Lionsgate doesn’t really get into any depth about how the title will play into the setting:

Successful author Veronica Henley finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late.

But the teaser for the film, which is produced by Sean McKittrick, the Irish guy who also put together Us and Get Out, seems to tap into a very familiar vein.

“This Is MAGA Country!”

As with Get Out, Watchmen and the soon-to-be-released despicable, cop-killer fantasy Queen and Slim, the existential threat to African-Americans is racist white people. To the point where even their nightmares and hauntings are about slavery and Confederate soldiers on horseback riding them down.

Hollywood is using its power to both scare the hell out of African Americans and make them fear and hate the fantasy of a present-day, violent white oppressor.

Never mind the real threat to African-Americans come from themselves.

Truly wonderful the data of the FBI is

Even if you leave in Hispanics, which are apparently “white” to the FBI, white Americans are responsible for 8.8% percent of the murders of African Americans while African Americans are responsible for 16% of the murders of white Americans.

Where are the movies about that? To misrepresent reality on this level is nothing more than divisive blood libel.

I think it’s well past time to go full Racial Truth War on Hollywood.
