The third installment of the Guardians Of The Galaxy franchise has been put on hold, The Hollywood Reporter said. Crew members have been told that they are free to look for other work.

The decision to put the production on hold could be related to Dunn’s firing, the publication said.

The film was supposed to be directed by James Gunn, who had directed and written the first two parts of the franchise. But Gunn got fired by Disney studios when his bizarre tweets on paedophilia and rape resurfaced.

“If you could just grab your things, you can all leave now.”

More than 360,000 people have signed a petition calling for the director to be re-hired, and the cast – including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Karen Gillan – wrote an open letter in support of their former director.

Pratt added in an Instagram post that he would “love to see” Gunn get his job back:

However, on August 16, Disney announced that Gunn would not be re-hired.

At the moment, Marvel and Disney are busy looking for a filmmaker. According to one source, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi had a meeting with Marvel.
